How to Paint and Weather the FanHome Millennium Falcon

After six years of building my DeAgostini Millennium Falcon, it was finally time to finish the paint and weathering.

So why didn’t I film the whole thing?

Honestly? A little bit of imposter syndrome. There are some incredible model makers out there whose work I’ve learned from over the years. Plus, filming adds a lot of time to a project—and at some point, I just wanted this thing finished.

But after a few of you asked about the painting process, I decided to go back and walk through exactly what I did.

In this video, I cover the entire process I used to paint and weather my DeAgostini/Fan Home Millennium Falcon—from black basing and the Insignia White base coat to masking, paint chipping, airbrush shading, panel lines, grime, blaster scoring and rust streaking.

Is this the ultimate way to paint a Millennium Falcon? Absolutely not. It’s simply what worked for me, what I learned along the way, and a few things I’d probably do differently next time.

That’s one of my favorite things about model making: every project teaches you something.
